Shopify is genuinely competitive on SEO in 2026 — but only if you respect its quirks. /collections/all duplication, /a/ pages routing, app JS bloat, metafield gaps. Knowing where the platform leaks rank is the whole game.
The ceiling · what’s possible

A well-tuned Shopify store ranks anywhere.

  • Product + AggregateRating schema. JSON-LD per product with price, availability, reviews. Required for Shopping + Merchant Center.
  • OS 2.0 sections everywhere. Theme.liquid + product.liquid + collection.liquid rebuilt as reusable, schema-aware sections.
  • Metafields for FAQ + specs. Hand-mapped metafields surface as FAQ blocks, comparison tables, citation slots.
  • Hydrogen / headless option. Where the catalog warrants it — React-rendered storefront, edge-cached, sub-second TTFB.

    01Is Shopify good for SEO in 2026?

    Yes — much better than its 2018 reputation. OS 2.0 + metafields + Hydrogen + Markets makes Shopify genuinely competitive. The main constraint is app discipline; everything else can be tuned to ceiling.

    02Should I move to Hydrogen / headless?+

    Only if catalog size and traffic justify the engineering cost. For most stores under 5,000 products, standard Shopify with proper schema + theme tuning is the better ROI. We discuss this on the call.

    03Do you handle Merchant Center / Google Shopping?+

    Product feed setup, attribute mapping, and SEO-side schema yes. For paid Shopping campaigns I refer to a paid-ads partner.

    04What about the /a/ vs /blog/ vs /products/ routing?+

    All three need their own schema strategy — Article on /a/ + /blog/, Product on /products/. The work is mapping schema to route and ensuring no cross-route duplication.

    05Will my apps still work after the sprint?+

    Yes — we remove apps that don't earn their place, but never break working flows. Replacement custom code is tested before any app is uninstalled.

    06Multi-currency / multi-region SEO?+

    Shopify Markets + Translate & Adapt + hreflang. Common setup for BD stores selling to Bangladesh + US + UK. Handled in week 5 of the sprint where applicable.

    07What if I'm on Shopify Plus?+

    Same playbook, more flexibility. Shopify Plus allows checkout customization + script-based personalization which SEO can leverage. Sprint scope adapts.

    08What happens after the 6 weeks?+
